Rublev Verona Green Earth is a transparent deep green earth oil colour with sophisticated warm undertones and a naturally muted elegance. The pigment is derived from basaltic tufa deposits near Brentonico and Monte Baldo, Italy, then ground into linseed oil with no additives. This is a true natural green earth (PG 23), not a substitute blend of chromium oxide green, barium sulfate, or yellow ochre often found in paints labelled “green earth.”

Verona Green Earth is transparent, medium-grained, and low tinting strength, making it ideal for subtle glazing, atmospheric greens, and delicate temperature shifts that do not overpower mixtures. Natural green earths are also renowned for being absolutely permanent in oil, which makes them dependable for long-term work and layered techniques.

Historically, green earth is central to verdaccio, the green-grey underpainting method used to establish values before building flesh tones. Renaissance painters used verdaccio for lifelike skin and shadow transitions, and Verona Green Earth remains a perfect choice for this purpose because it neutralises warmth gently and creates believable midtones.
